The "secret" show for Popscene's 10th anniversary had been hyped for over a week. I used to love the Killers but it's been a bit chilly on me. The new song certainly has a kick to it
Anyway, Popscene hosts a Thursday event at 330 Ritch which is tiny so this was gonna be a nice intimate concert
We showed up before 10pm but shoulda gone much earlier cuz they made us wait over an hour and it's not warm in SF (at night.. ever). We did hang out with Ronnie (the drummer) who was chillin by a bus parked closer to Brannan. He chatted with us, was totally cool
The band came on stage from that dinky door on the left. It was gonna be stripped down, just straight up playing
I was reminded that The Killers came up on that whole synth rock thing, cuz there was a ton of keyboards. It was good. They started the night with a new song, not bad except that no one knew it. The 2nd song was "When You Were Young", hyped. They played all the good stuff from "Hot Fuss", highlights were all the singles "Somebody Told Me", "Smile Like You Mean It", etc.. It was kinda cool when they played "Midnight Show" around.. midnight

They also played quite a few new songs, maybe like 5-6. One I really liked was "Read My Mind". Watch for that one on the new album. A song called "Uncle" something was kinda so so. The final new song they played was like some funeral thing, on the intro. Then it got pretty good. They ended the set with "Mr Brightside" to everyone's delight
Popscene, this place rocks. They just need to let us take pictures, what's the problem? They gave out some lame anniversary poster made out of Popscene flyers. I picked up a t-shirt for $30, kinda steep
The Killers totally won me back over, I mean it wasn't a spectacular show when I saw them last time at the Download Festival. I felt like checking out the couple of Warfield concerts in Oct but the tickets were hard to find (thanks scalpers)
